here are factors that should be taken into account in the design process for pressure vessels include (but not limited to):

Required design data for standard vessel in normal service :

1) Internal & external design pressure
2) Internal & external design temperature
3) Maximum design metal temperature MDMT.
4) Corrosion allowance CA
5) Seismic and wind loads code and site location
6) External piping loads chart
7) Insulation thickness and material
8) Vessel with platform and ladders or not.
9) Product specific gravity

Materials:

1) Shell & heads material
2) Pipe material
3) Forging & fittings material

Vessel configuration & Geometry:

1) Vessel to be designed vertical or horizontal
2) Vessel OD or ID
3) Volume or Vessel tangent line to tangent line
4) Vertical vessel supports type (supports lugs, leg supports or skirt)

Lifting vessel:

1) Lifting lugs to be ear lugs type
2) Trunnions type
3) Standard lifting lugs type (placed circumferential or longitudinal)

Vessel paint:

1) Internal paint system
2) External paint system
